Telling War Stories: The Rhetoric of the Great War

haltthehun.tif

“Telling War Stories” highlights rhetorical tactics other than literature from the period of the Great War—persuasive and inspirational words and images that affected not only Cather and other writers, but the reading public as a whole, the politicians who decided the course of the war, the soldiers themselves and their loved ones. This exhibit gives a historical framework that is accessible and visually interesting for all audiences, while addressing a larger question of the language of war and peace.

Exhibited in conjunction with the 61st Annual Spring Conference of the Willa Cather Foundation. Curated by Tracy Sanford Tucker, Education Director & Certified Archivist, and compiled by Cassandra C. Tucker, National Willa Cather Center digital humanities intern.
